Query Data Sources and Statistic Determination
These queries make use of collision data collected from many different sources. They include:
- Collision Reports Analysis for Safer Highways (CRASH): Statistics for 2000-2008 are derived from this database. The numbers include collisions that met the following criteria:
- Collision Process Status Code is Accepted
- Adjacent Land Use Code is not Private Property
- Parking Lot Indicator is No
- For determining whether a collision involved speed, at least one of the following human factors was indicated for at least one of the involved units:
- Exceeded Stated Speed Limit
- Too Fast For Conditions
- For determining whether a collision involved alcohol, at least one of the following was indicated for at least one of the involved units:
- Human Factor indicated of Alcohol Involvement
- Suspected Drinking Driver Indicator was Yes
- For determining whether a collision involved a commercial vehicle (CMV),
at least one of the units had Commercial Vehicle Indicator checked Yes.
- For determining whether a collision involved a motorcycle, at least one of the units indicated Unit Type was Motorcycle.
- Kentucky Annual Traffic Collision Facts: Statistics for prior to 2000 are derived from this report. Every version of this report is available on this website. Reports from 1976-1994 are scanned versions of hard copies.
- Kentucky Fatal Accident Facts: These reports were a predecesor to Kentucky Annual Traffic Collision Facts. Scanned versions of them are available on this site for 1970-1975.
